In a soul-stirring celebration of nature and verse, the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) campus witnessed a poetic evening that seamlessly intertwined the essence of Malayalam literature with the spirit of the wild as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Renowned poet and environmental enthusiast Shri Rajeev Karalmanna captivated the audience with a mesmerizing recital exploring the intricate relationship between man and nature. His presentation, rich with emotion and imagery, featured acclaimed Malayalam poems such as Vailoppilly Sreedhara Menon's "Manpazham" and Rafeeq Ahamed's "Thoramazha", which resonated deeply with the nature-immersed audience.
Set against the lush green backdrop of the KFRI campus, the event unfolded like a gentle monsoon – with words falling like rain, awakening memories, reflections, and a sense of reverence for the natural world. The atmosphere was electric, yet serene, as the poetry transformed into a flowing stream of thoughts and emotions, creating an unforgettable experience for all present.
Dr. A. V. Raghu extended a warm welcome to the gathering, setting the tone for the evening. As a mark of appreciation, Dr Kannan C. S. Warrier, Director of KFRI, presented Shri Karalmanna with a specially crafted Golden Jubilee Memento, honouring his contribution to the event and the cause of environmental consciousness through art.
The evening was more than a literary event – it was a tribute to nature, an artistic celebration of 50 years of research and preservation, and a reminder of the deep-rooted bond between humankind and the forests that cradle life.
