Dr. Jyoti Kumar Sharma , Director KFRI.
1999
Dr. Jyoti Kumar Sharma took over charge as Director of KFRI. (July 1999- January 2007). He was the founding Professor and Dean, School of Environment and Natural Resources, Doon University, Dehradun. He served as an FAO/IPGRI Expert Member in Expert Committee to Frame Guidelines for safe movement of Eucalypt germplasm in Bangkok, Thailand (November, 1995) and Pine germplasm in Opocne, Prague, Czech Republic (October, 1996).

Established Kerala Forest Seed Centre (KFSC)

Established Kerala Forest Seed Centre (KFSC) as a collaborative venture of Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) and Kerala Forest Department (KFD) at Peechi campus. The main objectives are to collect, process, store, certify and supply seeds of various forestry species to the stakeholders as per International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) standards. Since its inception, KFSC has provided about 300 tones certified seeds of forestry species.
