Help centre for Medicinal plants farmers

KFRI established a help centre for farmers interested in medicinal plant cultivation with the support of the State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB). This 'On-call Help Centre & Farmer's Library' was launched formally by the former Hon'ble Minister of Health Govt. of Kerala, Smt. K. K. Shailaja.

2021
KFRI joined in the Tree Mortality Network. International Tree Mortality Network (ITMN) an initiative of International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) to facilitate collaboration between scientists to combine expertise, knowledge and data, thereby allowing a global assessment of tree mortality and providing crucial information for forest managers and policymaking.

KFRI joined in the TreeWatch.net. TreeWatch.net is a global network for monitoring tree hydraulics and carbon sequestration in the context of Climate Change. This is a unique tool to understand hydraulic functioning and growth of trees. KFRI has become the first and only collaborative institution in this network from outside of Europe.

Sub-Centre at Kuzhoor Tissue Culture Unit
2022
Started Sub-Centre at Kuzhoor Tissue Culture Unit. The main objective of the centre is the mass propagation of plant species of commercial importance in line with demand from various stakeholders such as the KFRI scientific fraternity, R & D institutions, Government Departments, public sector enterprises, NGOs, academicians, local farmers, and individual entrepreneurs. There are facilities for the genetic fidelity testing of tissue culture raised plantlets for value addition.
